Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui is dealing with a string of injuries as he prepares his final squad list for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Niger and Tanzania.
According to sources, Regragui has received a comprehensive medical report from team doctor Christophe Baudot detailing the status of several key players who have recently suffered injuries.
Among those affected is Olympiacos striker Ayoub El Kaabi, along with Crystal Palace defender Chadi Riad. Nayef Aguerd, who plays for Real Sociedad, recently recovered from a muscle injury and featured in his club’s Copa del Rey clash against Real Madrid. However, Al Sadd defender Romain Saïss is ruled out after undergoing surgery, making him unavailable for Morocco’s March training camp.
Additionally, Manchester United full-back Noussair Mazraoui has been struggling with fitness issues, while Al Ahly’s Yahia Attiyat Allah only recently returned to full training after a prolonged absence.
Upcoming Matches and Group Standings
Morocco will play Niger on March 17 and Tanzania on March 24 at the Stade d’Honneur in Oujda. Despite facing injury setbacks, the Atlas Lions remain in a strong position, leading Group E with nine points as they aim to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
